E-Complish Reports BASH “Shellshock” Vulnerability Squashed

All Systems are Go and All E-Complish Client Data is Safe and Sound

Baltimore, Maryland–September26th, 2014: E-Complish’s security and engineering teams have been working to identify and resolve all potential issues relating to the BASH vulnerability, dubbed “ShellShock”, that was disclosed September 24, 2014 (CVE-2014-6271). Due to wide usage of BASH (in Linux and Unix environments, including embedded systems), and degree of access it provides, hackers can leverage this vulnerability to compromise and/or damage systems with ease.

“As a Level 1 PCI Compliant payment processor, E-Complish takes this risk (and our client’s data) very seriously. I am happy to report that we are ‘All Systems Go’ at E-Complish and E-Complish has not been affected by the BASH ‘Shellshock’ Vulnerability,” says Stephen Price, CEO of E-Complish.

Below is a summary of the steps E-Complish has taken on behalf of its clients:

• E-Complish’s own production infrastructure has been assessed from top to bottom for this vulnerability, and where necessary all applicable systems have been updated.
• After much testing and verification, E-Complish can say with certainty that this effort was completed as of September 25, 2014 at 7:10PM EDT.
• Additionally, E-Complish engineers are now updating detection signatures for all relevant devices to improve its ability to detect attempts at exploiting this vulnerability inside the E-Complish environment.

E-Complish will continue to monitor this situation closely and take actions to protect not only the E-Complish infrastructure, but most importantly, all E-Complish client data.
